The Basement Relic Wing
This wing keeps names that feel found rather than designed. Some sit in Treasure Room Curios with chalk dust and broken toys. Some wait among Devil Deal Relics, where a price tag can feel more dangerous than a monster. Others belong to Angel Room Keepsakes, bright enough to help and cracked enough to worry you.
Reading the shelves
Use the shelves as mood first and mechanics second. Homing Tear Relics point toward eyes, magnets, prayers, and targets. Poison and Fire Tears give you smoke, fever, blisters, and little burns. Sacrifice Unlock Relics ask what the player gave up before the item appeared. Gross Charm Oddities keep the joke physical, but still usable.
Writers, modders, and roguelike designers come here when a rule needs a name with teeth. Take one result as the pedestal label, then ask what it changes, what it costs, and what other pickup makes it stranger. A small name can carry a whole build if the tone is sharp enough.
- Which room shelf claims this object first?
- What does the name promise before the rule text exists?
- What synergy would make the pickup memorable?
- What price, joke, or blessing hides inside it?
