What makes an android name feel real

An android name has a strange job. It must sound like a serial number and a chosen name at once, the way a person with a call sign and a given name can answer to both. The Storyteller's Codex conjures designations that are crisp, mnemonic, and quietly human, the kind a synthetic would adopt when no one is looking.

    Sounds of the synthetic

Hard consonants snap, the way relays snap shut. Vowels are short, clinical, deliberate. Alphanumeric tails lend a sense of batch and lineage, like a year, a city, a maker's mark. Together they form a name that fits on a maintenance tag and a gravestone, depending on the day.

For tabletop synths, sci-fi protagonists, and villainous AIs

Roll names for a Blade Runner-esque replicant, a Mass Effect squadmate, a Detroit Become Human household unit, or an original tabletop synthetic with a hidden soul. The codex adapts to every chrome era. Conjure as many designations as the muse permits, because no two synths should answer to the same call.

    Tips from the chrome scribes

Lean into the batch. A subtle code or serial lends authenticity. Save room for nicknames. Even synths earn them, especially the ones that pretend not to. Keep a few for spares, for backups, and for the older unit the squad has unofficially adopted as their grandmother.

    Consider before you roll

    To name an android, consider:

    • What is the maker, and what is the chassis year?
    • Is the android a worker, a soldier, a companion, or a fugitive?
    • Will the name fit on a maintenance tag and a gravestone?
    • Does it need to read as human, or refuse to?
    • Could a nickname follow the designation within five minutes of meeting?

    Scribes ask…

Can I really use these android name names for free?

Yes. Every name rolled with the Android Name Generator is free to use in your stories, games, streams or projects — no credit required, though a kind word is always welcome. Just remember the muse is generous, so the occasional name may already belong to someone else; double-check before tattooing it on a logo.

Is there a limit to how many android name names I can roll?

Roll until your dice catch fire. The codex holds many hundreds of android name names for this generator alone, and the pool gets shuffled on every visit, so you'll rarely see the same line-up twice.

Does this work without an internet connection?

Once a generator's page has loaded, the names are cached in your browser. You can reroll on a train, in a tent, or deep in a dungeon — no signal required.
