    The Inquisition wing

This wing stores names built for authority under pressure. Some arrive as spare given names and surnames. Others carry offices, censures, relics, or reputations that have outgrown the person. The archive does not decide whether the Inquisitor is righteous. It gives you language that can support zeal, doubt, secrecy, ambition, or calculated compromise.

Read the clues inside the name

Start with Ordo affiliation. It tells you what kind of threat the character expects to find. Then examine the signature relic and sector authority. A rosette displayed openly creates a different presence from a seal shown only behind locked doors. A sector title may be legitimate, inherited from a dead mentor, or disputed by a conclave.

Forbidden ally rumor and daemonology boundary provide useful friction. Decide whether the rumor is true, partly true, or planted by a political enemy. Set one line the character refuses to cross. Then place evidence on the other side of it. The investigation hook should force a choice between doctrine and results.

Use the result at the table or on the page

Keep the whole name when it already implies a history. Otherwise separate it into parts. Give the surname to a noble house, turn the epithet into a case file, or let an interrogator inherit the title after a suspicious death. Retinue members may use a private shortening that no governor would dare repeat.

    • What does the rosette authorize here?
    • Which relic is evidence rather than equipment?
    • Who benefits from the forbidden-ally rumor?
    • What verdict would make the Inquisitor hesitate?
    • Which name will enemies use in secret?
