Your roll

  1. A local rain messenger investigates split storms near blue flashes along static-filled roads near dry gullies, with red mud crossing roads-side charged air; the local rain messenger negotiates near dry gullies: close watching before hail arrives. The storm country remains unsettled. The local rain messenger's static-filled concern invites storm collapse involving static-filled split storms.
  2. The territory passage reaches kill-shadowed trail junctions beside vulture trees; after a watchful former hunter documents crossed pride trails among warning calls, the territory final image of caught fur framing trail junctions-side thorn branches intensifies the pressure. The watchful former hunter's kill-shadowed concern faces territory collapse involving kill-shadowed crossed pride trails. The watchful former hunter waits near vulture trees: new boundaries until radios fail.
  3. At valley-avoiding routes beyond market roads, a caravan threshold forms. Then a returning coded courier responds to unlisted cargo beyond blocked bridges; the returning coded courier's valley-avoiding concern conceals caravan collapse involving valley-avoiding unlisted cargo; changing stories circling routes-side shade tents; finally, the returning coded courier adapts near market roads: safe water as guards argue.
  4. Granite-steep kopjes beside open grass: a novice climber notices buried handprints near mineral crust; quick lizards brushing kopjes-side deep fissures; the novice climber's granite-steep concern risks kopje delay involving granite-steep buried handprints, so the novice climber decides near open grass: safe refuge before night comes.
  5. Under warm wind crossing flats-side rain puddles, a weary guide finds early blooms among dry stalks at sun-bleached flats beyond thorn belts; the weary guide commits near thorn belts: a timely move until routes close. The grassland reason becomes clear: the weary guide's sun-bleached concern invites grassland delay involving sun-bleached early blooms.

    The savanna wing

This wing stores landscapes that move. Seasonal grasslands change color and carrying capacity. Watering holes gather people, livestock, and wildlife under the same pressure. Migrating herds redraw routes without consulting anyone’s map. The entries treat those forces as scene engines rather than decorative background.

    Working with an entry

Start with the character’s task. A ranger checks a boundary, a herder searches for water, a trader needs a ford, or a researcher follows unusual data. Keep the generated pressure, then decide who understands it and who does not. Combine a place from one result with the conflict from another when the first roll is close but not complete.

    Context and care

Predator territories, pastoral communities, conservation conflicts, and trade routes carry social meaning. Research any real region you use. Give local characters expertise, private motives, and disagreement. A map, a remembered route, and an animal corridor may describe the same ground differently.

    Field notes

    • Choose a precise point in the wet or dry season.
    • Let fire, water, weather, or movement change the available choices.
    • Use a few sensory details and save others for the moment conditions shift.
    • Make wildlife behavior follow habitat, hunger, disturbance, and distance.
    • Keep the practical task visible beneath the larger conflict.

    Questions from the index

    • Which route has just become unreliable?
    • Who controls the nearest usable water?
    • What does the herd notice before the people do?
    • Which ordinary duty cannot be postponed?
    • What choice will still matter next season?

    Scribes ask…

Can I really use these savanna setting names for free?

Yes. Every name rolled with the Savanna Setting Generator is free to use in your stories, games, streams or projects — no credit required, though a kind word is always welcome. Just remember the muse is generous, so the occasional name may already belong to someone else; double-check before tattooing it on a logo.

Is there a limit to how many savanna setting names I can roll?

Roll until your dice catch fire. The codex holds many hundreds of savanna setting names for this generator alone, and the pool gets shuffled on every visit, so you'll rarely see the same line-up twice.

Does this work without an internet connection?

Once a generator's page has loaded, the names are cached in your browser. You can reroll on a train, in a tent, or deep in a dungeon — no signal required.
