Why an Aranasi name should hiss with lineage and predation

Pair the personal name with a title. Webmother, Silk Speaker, Venomed One. Drag the S and Z sounds when you say it aloud. The name is supposed to sound like venom slipping through teeth. Reserve the longest, most ornate names for matrons who command entire chambers. Save a few rolls for the moment a matron offers the party a truce, and the player can hear the hiss in the title before the conversation has started.

To forge an Aranasi name, consider:

• What is the matron's rank, young matron, broodmother, silk weaver, translator, queen of a chamber, exiled seer?
• Which opening syllable does her brood share, and which syllable did she earn through her first successful hunt?
• Is the cadence hissing and short, or long and venomous, the way a broodmother's name should sound?
• What title completes her, Webmother, Silk Speaker, Venomed One, Last of Her Line, Daughter of the Sworn Brood?
• Could the name be whispered in a silk-wrapped hall at midnight, and feel native to the cold dark that has been waiting for it?
